FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short and to the point. If your question isn’t here, give us a call.
Does a visit to the dentist hurt?
It doesn’t have to. We work under local anaesthetic and apply a numbing gel before the injection, so even the anaesthetic is barely noticeable. If you feel anxious, tell us at the start of the visit. We will explain everything, and you can ask for a break at any time.
How often should I have a check-up?
Usually every 6 months, and a hygiene visit (scaling, air polishing) once or twice a year. More often if you have gum disease, braces or are pregnant. A regular check-up is the cheapest way to catch decay before it starts to hurt.
How much does a visit cost — will I get a quote?
A check-up costs PLN 100. After the examination the dentist will go through the treatment plan and its cost with you. If you like, we can prepare a written treatment plan with a quote (PLN 350). Our full, up-to-date price list is on this website.
Do you treat children?
Yes. The first visit should take place when the first tooth appears. For children we offer an adaptation visit — no treatment, just getting to know the clinic. We seal fissures, apply fluoride, treat baby teeth and provide orthodontic treatment.
What is microscope root canal treatment?
The dentist removes infected pulp and seals the canals while working under a microscope that magnifies the inside of the tooth many times. This helps find canals invisible to the naked eye — the most common cause of treatment failure. The procedure is done under local anaesthetic.
Can I get a panoramic X-ray or CBCT scan with you?
Yes, on site. A digital panoramic X-ray costs PLN 100 and a CBCT scan starts at PLN 140. We usually take it during your visit, and the dentist discusses the result right away.
Implant or denture — which should I choose?
An implant replaces the tooth root and puts no strain on neighbouring teeth — it is the closest thing to a natural tooth. A denture is cheaper and quicker to make. We decide together after a CBCT scan, once we have checked the bone and gone through the costs of both options.
Does whitening damage enamel?
Not when a dentist supervises it. Before whitening we check for decay, leaking fillings and sensitivity. Temporary sensitivity to cold can occur, but it passes quickly.
How should I prepare for a wisdom tooth removal?
Have a light meal before the procedure, bring any X-rays taken elsewhere and tell the dentist about the medicines you take. Afterwards, don’t eat for 2 hours, and for the first day avoid hot drinks, exercise and smoking. Anaesthetic and stitches are included in the price.
Is dental treatment safe during pregnancy?
Yes — and it is especially important, because gums bleed more easily during pregnancy and inflammation can get worse. The best time for treatment is the second trimester. Let us know you are pregnant when you book — we will choose a suitable anaesthetic and postpone X-rays unless they are necessary.
Do you speak English?
Yes. Most of our dentists see patients in English, and Dr Michał Köhler also speaks German and Polish Sign Language (PJM).
